These rugby shirts are inspired by the schoolboy jerseys that graced the pages of early 20th century publications like Boys’ Own - jerseys worn on the proverbial - and literal - playing fields of England. These playing fields gave us not only sports like soccer and rugby (as well as a wide variety of more obscure variants), but made a lasting impact on western sportswear and casual clothing more broadly. The staples of modern clothing - the kinds of things we wear all the time - have their origins primarily in the military, and in the world of sport (and disproportionately in the world of traditional British sport). These jerseys, like all of our heavyweight rugby jerseys, are made on vintage knitting looms to achieve a super high tension, luxurious 12-gauge knit. While our rugbies are similar in quality to the kinds of jerseys you might find gracing British playing fields long ago, they are unlike anything else being made today. In collaboration with Sports D'Epoque.
- Super heavyweight (400g / 14 oz.) black rugby with yellow and red horizontal stripes.
- Handmade in Europe.
- 100% cotton, knitted in the traditional 12 gauge style.
Stunning material and craftsmanship. Feels incredible. Rugby collar; three-button placket; gorgeous rib knit cuffs. More fitted than our dad rugbies and soccer shirts. We recommend sizing up for a looser fit.
