Hakuichi Blotting Paper / Grace by BEAMS JAPAN
Hakuichi makes gold leaf and crafts in the city of Kanazawa which prospered from its gold leaf industry since the late 16th century. In the process of pounding and stretching gold into thin sheets, thin pieces of paper are layered in between the gold sheets which become soft and fine after repeated pounding. The maiko and geisha learned to use this delicate paper to touch up their makeup, and in 1976, Hakuichi made this byproduct available to consumers. Hakuichi’s blotting paper is still made in the same traditional way that they always used to be made.
The Ume-Miyabi type contains bits of gold foil in the paper. Use one sheet at a time and gently press against various areas of the face to remove excess oil from the surface of the skin while keeping makeup intact.
