Pillow by Jaime Muñoz

For the launch of our Art at Home Series, we worked with local LA artists to create limited edition American-made Pillows and Blankets. We asked the artists for their take on the idea of an Endless Summer, which in LA is more a state of mind than a moment in time.

Part of an ongoing series, the Art at Home collection is part of our FredGives program, which gives a % of proceeds to LA-based charities and educational opportunities.

Jaime Muñoz was born in Los Angeles, and received a B.A. in Fine Art from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2016. He currently lives and works in Pomona CA. The visual language of his work is focused on aspects of identity, the commodification of labor, religion, and the critique of Latin American colonialism and Modernism. He’s inspired by concepts of “Blood Memory,” the relationship that ancestral ties have to the present day experience. He’s also inspired by the concept of “Toyoteria,” which is a working class shared experience through economic necessity around the R-series Toyota mini work trucks. A driving force in his technique is inspired by decorative aspects of commonplace everyday life and ordinary objects found in his community.
